14 years of Marriage
We celebrated 14 years of being married in December of last year. Since our anniversary is a few short days before Christmas, and since it was 14 years (not like 15, 20, or 50) I didn't think Tom would have planned anything elaborate. But I was wrong. A couple days before our anniversary, he woke me up and told me that we were flying to California. I was shocked. I'm usually a pretty good secret finder-outer, so when I didn't even have an inkling that something was going on, you can imagine how excited I was. Tom had arranged childcare, transportation, the whole nine yards. Pretty amazing. Everything was going smoothly. We ate seafood, drank hot chocolate by the bay, and listened to the ocean as we slept. Mid trip, I hurt my neck. Blah. Because of my back history, this kind of injury tends to happen a few times a year but I was pretty sad that it had to happen during our mini vacation. Especially because Tom had done such a good job of planning everything. Even still, we pressed on. Tom took care of me and I tried to have a good attitude (I'm not a very good injured person.) Nevertheless, I will ALWAYS be grateful for the time that Tom surprised me and took me to California on our 14th wedding anniversary.
