So.Cal 2011

It's official. My family loves the beach. And it's a good thing because I love it too. I've decided that even though my home is now in Utah, and I love Utah, my heart will always be in California. Whenever I visit California and walk on the sandy beach for the first time, a wonderful thing happens. I am immediately carried back to my childhood, my youth, and my heart begins to swell. Then I take a deep breath and close my eyes. I'm in a trance, completely enveloped by the sights and sounds. It's heaven. Complete heaven.

This June, our family got to spend some time on the beach in San Juan Capistrano thanks to the Inkleys. We stayed at a beach house with 18 people 12 years and older and 5 kids. Watching my kids make memories on the beach and running from room to room in the beach house gave me great satisfaction. They had so much fun! The kids and Tom even spent one night on the deck of the beach house and loved it. Oh to be a kid again! I remember making similar memories when my family went beach camping as a kid, and those are some of my happiest memories from childhood. We hope to visit a So. Cal beach every year and make this a Thackeray family tradition.

p.s. the only pictures we got of the trip were from Wendy's cell phone because we (I) forgot to pack the battery to our camera.
