I wondered when the day would come when my little girl wouldn't want the company of her mother anymore. When she would be ready for her own private time. The other day I was teaching Savannah how to use a reading website called starfall.com. She's never used the computer before (I know, I'm way behind the trend) so I was teaching her how to use the mouse and how to point and click. She picked up on it fairly quickly and was really excited to be able to use the computer on her own. Next thing I know she was scooting me off the chair that we were sharing and saying in her most polite voice, "Mom, could you go downstairs?" My heart fell. She didn't want me around. She wanted to be independent and explore all by herself without my help. Don't get me wrong, there are many things that she insists she do all by herself, but this is the first time I've been asked to leave a room. Although I'm happy for her new found independence, I'm realizing this is only the beginning. Thankfully we've got a few more years before she's a teenager!
