I love to see the Temple

We had the chance to go to the Draper Temple Open House today. It was a last minute thing and I really hadn't thought about what a good experience it might be for our family. Savannah is familiar with Temples, she knows that Tom and I were married in the Temple, and she knows that they are Heavenly Father's house. So before we went to the Temple Tom and I took every opportunity to prepare her to enter in the House of the Lord. As we were getting ready to go she asked, "Is Heavenly Father going to be there?" "No," Tom answered. "But you might be able to feel His Spirit there." Benjamin overheard all the talk about the Temple and he keep running around saying, "Temple, Temple, Temple" in an excited voice.

Once we arrived and before we took the shuttle to the Temple we sat down to watch a short video about why we have Temples and why they are important to us. As we were watching the video I noticed Savannah looking at a picture of Christ with a child in His arms that was hanging on the wall. She leaned over and asked me in the most sincere and innocent voice, "Is Jesus going to be in the Temple?" It was such a sacred moment for me. I could tell that she wanted to see Jesus. That she wanted to be in His presence. That she believed that she could. My heart swelled and I was overcome with gratitude for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For Eternal Families. For Temples. The rest of the tour was incredibly special to me. I could feel the spirit strongly as we walked through the rooms where sacred ordinances will be performed. I was so grateful for that opportunity. I don't know if Savannah will remember anything about today, but I honestly felt like I experienced a little piece of Heaven with Tom, Benjamin, and Savannah today in the Temple. It was a good day.
