i gave in

Up until yesterday my yard looked like this:

Leaves turning green, buds poking their heads through the ground, crocus' blooming. I was beginning to think that Spring was officially here. The weather sure fooled my kids too. Every day since it has been warm Savannah and Benjamin have spent nearly every waking moment outside. They would have slept outside if I let them. Then yesterday it snowed. I was grateful because I needed a day inside to do some laundry... five loads to be exact. From the moment the kids opened their eyes it was apparent that they didn't feel the same way I did. They wanted to continue being outdoor dwellers. So I spent the entire day trying my best to keep it to together with all of the whining, crying, and complaining. I was lucky to go 3 minutes before someone made an annoying noise. Finally at 6:00 PM, I gave in. I bundled them up, let them outside and closed the door. Of course after five minutes of playing outside I heard crying. Both Benj and Savvy were soaking wet and muddy. The real kicker is when I tried to get Benj to come inside he started screaming and flailing because apparently he was more happy outside in his yucky, dirty, miserable-looking state than he was inside. Today I woke up to a text from my friend Wendy who offered to take the kids for the day. Today I was grateful for good friends. And I'm sure I'll be glad to see my kids again when they get home. :)
