First day of School/School Pictures
Here we are, almost two months into the school year and I haven't blogged about the first day of school. Having two kids in school means twice the homework, twice the reading, twice the school clothes, well, you get the picture.
There were so many differences between Savannah's first day of Kindergarten and Benjamin's. Being our first child, we were a bit... well, over protective. We drove her to school so she wouldn't be picked on by the older kids on the bus, we walked her to the playground, took pictures, cried a little, and left our baby not knowing what was in store for her. On the other hand, Benjamin rode the bus with Savannah the first day of school. He wanted to and was really excited to be like Savannah. And I was okay knowing that she was his built in protector. We had already toured the school multiple times so Benjamin knew exactly where to go. What didn't change were the tears, the mother's worry that her child would be okay, do okay, out there in the world. Maybe I'm sounding a bit dramatic. After all, it's "just" Kindergarten. But Kindergarten is just the beginning of everything else. And everything else seems to fly by. In my mind, Savannah is already going off to college. No wait, that's her cousin Burgandy who was just born yesterday.
And here we are, two months into the school year and it feels like it was just this time last year that I was doing the same thing.
