I rarely listen to kid's music while driving in the car. I figure if my kids are content listening to music I enjoy, then we all benefit. Today I was listening to a compilation of songs from a CD given to me by my BFF, Kerry. It was made especially for our CG reunion last year to remind us of our good ol' high school days. The Steve Miller Band song, "The Joker" came on and the tune was so catchy I decided to keep listening not realizing that the words were less than kid appropriate. Well, I guess I realized it I just thought well, I'm taking a serious gamble here but maybe it'll go over their heads! After the song was over, Benjamin asked me to play it, "agen?". Perhaps he was pulled into the catchy beat as well. As soon as we reached our destination I turned the car off and heard a sweet little voice in the back singing with a little lisp, "i'm a sinner... i'm a smoker". Umm....maybe I should really think next time before I listen to things for my own listening pleasure. Not my best mommy moment.

Oh my gosh, that's hilarious! Ha ha!! Let's hope they forget it soon! It really is amazing what little sponges they are, and you really have no clue what things they decide to spit back out later!
I love them...remember "oh my gosh that girls on fire??" Do not play that one...it will give them nightmares...
Is it terrible that I'm bustin' a gut right now? I've had similar experiences.
I listened to that song for YEARS as a child and had no idea until years, yes many years later that it could be considered bad... ;) So, don't be too hard on yourself. It is a really fun song.
I've had the same thoughts while listening to that CD in the car with the kids. Mine haven't picked up on it yet, but I think I probably shouldn't listen to it with them anyway!
Ha ha! That's so funny. My 2 yr old runs around saying "DANG IT!" in a tone of voice that actually sounds way worse than it is. And when T pointed that out to me, I realized I was the culprit. Yikes!
