My new mantra

The other day a good friend of mine shared a quote with me. I liked it so much that I decided to trace its origins so I could find out who originally said it. In the process I came across a couple of publications that just expounded my understanding of this quote and helped me to realize its profound meaning in my life. You ready? Here it is:

"Faith is not what you demonstrate to get what you want; it is what you demonstrate no matter what you get." - Ardeth Kapp

Perfect right? See, I guess I'm a slow learner because in the past when I have been faced with a trial I have prayed for faith that I would ultimately have the desire (s) of my heart; especially if it was a righteous desire. What I didn't realize was that having true faith was ultimately trusting that the Lord knew what was best for me.

He knows me. He knows what I need in order to learn and grow on this earth.

I always believed these things; especially after having gone through a trial and looking back on the trial and seeing what I needed to learn from it. But I never felt like I could look forward knowing these truths until now. It is really empowering to know that I can have faith in the future, even if my life isn't exactly what I have envisioned it would be (whose life is anyway?).

Thank you my friend, Nanny Bayles. You were inspired to share this with me.
